CURCH OF CARMINI Nearby the bulding named after the “Scuola Grande dei Carmini” there is the 14th century Carmini Church which belonged to the then existing Carmelitan Monastry (supressed in the year 1810). The third altar of the right aisle inside the church (now in stone and precious marbles but originally in wood) was built in 1594 by the confraternity before the erection of their headquarters. The relative altarpiece was given by the brother painter Pace-Pace and rapresents the Virgin Mary giving the scapular to saint Simon Stock. The two lateral statues represent Humility and Virginity. They were sculptured respectively by Giuseppe Torretti and Antonio Corradini between 1722 and 1723. The two wonderful bronze angels upon the altar-rails were made by Girolamo Campagna in 1618. The decoration in gold of the dome is a fresco painting by Sebastiano Ricci ( 18th century)
